About the 2026 Call
Introduce ESD in Curriculum Design
The Learning Design and ESD Bootcamp is back for its Autumn 2026 Cohort. Running over 8 weeks from 9th October to 4th December 2026, this programme empowers academics, learning designers, and educational developers to embed Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into curriculum design using the CoDesignS ESD Framework.
Delivered in collaboration with UNESCO IESALC, University of Glasgow, King's College London, Manchester Metropolitan University, The University of Edinburgh and the Open University.

Outcomes
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the Bootcamp, participants are able to:
Discuss the concept of sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Explain what ESD is and the difference it can make to curricula and pedagogy.
Discuss the concept of transformative pedagogies and the application of active learning methodology into learning and teaching practice.
Describe learning design concepts and approaches as well as the importance of the three pillars of the CoDesignS ESD Framework embedding ESD in curriculum design. Explore the CoDesignS ESD Framework.
Design curriculum elements contributing to embedding ESD in educational practices using the CoDesignS ESD Toolkit Planner and the CoDesignS ESD AI Coach.

Target Audience
The Bootcamp is designed for academics, learning designers, educational developers, curriculum designers, and learners from higher education institutions—or any educational setting—interested in embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into curriculum design.
After completing the Bootcamp, participants can apply to become Certified Bootcamp Mentors.

CoDesignS ESD Toolkit & Curriculum Planner
Throughout the Bootcamp, participants will have the opportunity to work on their own curriculum designs using the new version of the CoDesignS ESD Toolkit and Curriculum Planner. With its enhanced visualisations, the tool guides teams step-by-step through the process of embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into curriculum design — making it a completely new, intuitive and engaging experience.
The interactive visual dashboards help teams map learning outcomes, competencies and pedagogical approaches against the CoDesignS ESD Framework, providing real-time feedback and a clear picture of how ESD is being integrated across their module.

Eligibility for the Discounted Rate
- Teams from low-income and lower-middle-income economies receive a 10% discount.
